Arizona starter Smith Bailey held that 3-1 lead until the seventh inning, when Louisville led off with a Garret Pike double and bunt single from Neighbors. Bailey was relieved by Garrett Hicks, who allowed a sacrifice fly by Lucas Moore.

Arizona was the first team to arrive in Omaha, landing on Tuesday after spending an extra day in North Carolina following a Super Regional that saw the Wildcats take advantage of a huge break to get back to the College World Series.

The Arizona Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals meet up in Omaha on Sunday with their NCAA Men’s College World Series hopes on the line in the first elimination game of the tournament. Both teams had high hopes coming into the Men’s College World Series, but found themselves on the losing end of a couple of tough battles.

The second day of the 2025 College World Series saw the four teams in Bracket 2 take their first step towards advancing to the Finals. This came after Coastal Carolina and Oregon State took a major step forward on opening day while Arizona and Louisville were sent to the brink of elimination.
