Tornadoes struck the Midwest over the weekend, hitting cities and towns in Kansas and Missouri. And one snarl on I-70 left experts concerned about tornado safety.

According to NWS Indianapolis, storms with damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes will reach the Illinois-Indiana border around 6 p.m., and it should reach Indianapolis by 7 p.m. and the eastern portions of central Indiana by 8 p.m.

The Jackson, Kentucky, office is one of at least four such facilities across the country that is so short-staffed that it is no longer routinely operating 24/7.

Severe storms across parts of the U.S. Midwest and South have left at least 23 people dead. Gov. Andy Beshear said Saturday that there were 14 weather-related deaths in Kentucky — including from what appeared to be a devastating tornado.
