A midday snowstorm is rolling into eastern Iowa on Thursday, with the potential for several inches of accumulation throughout the day. The National Weather Service is forecasting snowfall throughout the late morning and early afternoon in Linn and Johnson County.

The first snowfall of the year in Iowa left a mark. Many experienced an alarm going off on their cell phones with a snow squall warning early Thursday morning. This is issued by the National Weather Service.

Much of Iowa got "slushy" snow, as the National Weather Service called it, Monday night into Tuesday morning. The snowfall caused some roads to become slick and partially covered overnight, according to a post from NWS.

Plan on snowy and slick conditions across central Iowa on Thursday, with snow accumulations between 2-4 inches expected.

A Snow Squall Warning was issued this morning for parts of western and central Iowa, due to visibility being greatly reduced by heavy snow.
