On Monday at 11:45 p.m. the National Weather Service released a flood warning in effect until Tuesday at 10 a.m. The warning is for Platte, Atchison, Doniphan, Andrew, Buchanan and Nodaway counties.
Rain and colder-than-normal temperatures are expected this week, with the forecast for a dry Memorial Day weekend uncertain. Temperatures are expected to hover in the 60s all week, lower than the average high of 71, with rain most of the week, National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Kook said.
An EF-1 tornado touched down in and near Gordon on May 18. The National Weather Service Fort Worth confirmed the tornado on Monday, May 19, citing estimated peak winds of 105 mph. An EF-1 rating is assigned for tornadoes with estimated peak winds between 86 and 110 mph.
Storm surveys are underway following a night of severe weather across North Texas. As of Monday afternoon, at least seven tornadoes have been confirmed. EF-0 tornadoes: One confirmed near Morton Valley in Eastland County.
The National Weather Service released a flood warning at 7:42 p.m. on Monday valid from 11 p.m. until Tuesday 9:05 p.m. for Clay and Ray counties.
