A FIFA Club World Cup spot is on the line for MLS side LAFC and Liga MX’s Club América this spring. FIFA shared initial plans earlier in the year, but the one-game playoff became official this week after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld Mexico’s Club Léon's disqualification.

The winners of the one-off game will take the place of Club Leon in Group D for the newly-expanded tournament.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is just over a month away, with the first match of the historic tournament kicking off on 14 June, 2025. The month-long competition will see 32 of the world's best clubs compete for the title of the best club in the world, where they will lift the unique trophy in the final played in New York on 13 July.
