President Donald Trump’s administration expanded its capacity to detain immigrants not legally in the country with a facility in New Jersey’s largest city this month.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is speaking out against the arrest Newark Mayor Ras Baraka for protesting the construction of a new ICE detention center.

The contrast between ICE officers in camouflage fatigues and the “nice old ladies” protesting outside the immigrant detention center might have been comic if not for the guns and plastic wrist cuffs the officers carried and the violent confrontation between Newark Police and other demonstrators the night before.
