At least seven police officers were shot during an hourslong armed standoff after responding to a "suicide in progress" call in San Antonio on Wednesday night, authorities said.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus held an impromptu press conference near the incident around 10:30 p.m. and explained to local media about what transpired. It was initially reported that only four police officers were shot during the incident.

Seven San Antonio, Texas police officers were shot by a barricaded suspect, the city's police chief said. The suspect was found dead from a gunshot wound.
