Mike Lange reminded the Pittsburgh Penguins of some of their bygone glories Saturday afternoon. The Washington Capitals spent a good chunk of the few hours that followed reminding the Penguins just how far they are from doing anything more than talking about being a championship contender.
The Penguins actually turned in an impressive, fairly sound, effort for 30 minutes, but then unraveled in the back half of the second period.
Pittsburgh played pretty well for 30 minutes, and then the bottom fell out as it was embarrassed in an 8-3 loss against Washington.
From Mario Lemieux to Jaromir Jagr, and Crosby to Malkin, the Penguins’ stars loved Lange. His voice was a prominent soundtrack of their careers. Lange would often bellow “Make me a milkshake, Malkin” when the Russian star would score a goal. Malkin loved it.
