It took him a little while to get acclimated, but Josh Okogie has arrived. The Charlotte Hornets added him to help match salaries with the Phoenix Suns when the
UNC had to come back to beat Boston College in OT on Saturday. Did that get them back during this challenging season?
When the 2024-25 season began, Josh Okogie was focused on contributing alongside Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal to help contend for a championship with the Phoenix Suns.
In helping Charlotte split the first two games of its longest homestand of the season, the newly acquired guard is proving his worth.
The Hornets will be extremely depleted for this contest, and Okogie will start at small forward due to the absence of Josh Green (foot). Okogie is averaging 10.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game over his last five appearances off the bench.
When the Charlotte Hornets traded for Okogie they acquired a dogged defender with a penchant for crashing the glass on both ends of the floor. In Friday night’s home loss to the red hot Portland Trail Blazers, Okogie’s versatile skill set that fully embodies “ Hornets DNA ” was on full display.
Okogie ended with 19 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds, two assists and four steals across 25 minutes during Monday's 112-107 loss to the Lakers. This was Okogie's second-best scoring effort of the season.
Charlotte, mind you, might have another move planned with Okogie before the deadline to expand on its Richards return.Source: marcstein.substack.com What’s the buzz on Twitter? Bobby Marks

Allowing Josh Ogokie to gather himself ... it was definitely a whirlwind but these guys embraced me, showed me love,” Okogie told The Observer. “So, it was easy just to kind of get acclimated.”
The Phoenix Suns have four bigs on the roster, including newly acquired 7-footer Nick Richards. Nurkic was moved to the bench earlier this month.
In the one game even the most ardent Nets supporters might have wanted them to lose, Charlotte put up no resistance.
