Nvidia is alerting users to a 'rare issue' with RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti GPUs missing vital ROPs — and RTX 5080 GPUs are reportedly affected, too.

Users are reporting missing ROPs in their RTX 50 Series GPUs, with the latest reports highlighting that the issues also affects the GeForce RTX 5080.

Defective RTX 5070 Ti with eight missing ROPs sees an up-to 10% drop in performance, depending on the scenario.

If you're one of the lucky and well-stacked fellas who owned the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 or the recently launched RTX 5070 Ti, you better off go and run GPU-Z to find out if you're one of the unlucky ones with the "defective brains".

Some users have spotted missing hardware on their RTX 5090 and 5070 Ti cards. It appears to be a manufacturing defect. Fortunately, it's covered under warranty.

According to TechPowerUp, consumers revealed that some of the RTX 5090 and 5070Ti graphics cards had a lower number of ROPs than claimed by Nvidia. The RTX 5090 was showcased with 176 ROPs, but instead, it had 168. This loss of 8 ROPs results in a 4% performance loss.

NVIDIA confirms it has shipped GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5090D, and RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards with reduced ROP counts, affected users can get a replacement.

Nvidia says that a few RTX 5090 / 5090D and RTX 5070 Ti GPUs shipped with defective ROPs, telling affected users to contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
