(WILX) - Michigan State men’s basketball won two games at the Breslin Center last week, 90-85 over Penn State and 80-78 over No. 19 Illinois, and moved up four spots to No. 8 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Poll. The Spartans are ranked in the AP top 10 for the first time since 2019.

Auburn claimed the program’s second No. 1 ranking last week and won both its games despite playing without injured big man Johni Broome. The Tigers rolled over No. 14 Mississippi State 88-66 and survived a late comeback to beat then-No. 19 Georgia 70-68.

Michigan State, which opened the season unranked, remains the lone team unbeaten in Big Ten play. Its next game is against Rutgers (10-8, 3-4) on Saturday (1:30 p.m., CBS) at Madi
