MUMBAI, India (AP) — India’s biggest domestic cricket tournament was suspended for one week on Friday following the escalating military tensions with Pakistan.

India's cricket board said it had suspended the Indian Premier League tournament as fighting escalated with neighbouring Pakistan, halting play in the sport's richest tournament two weeks before the end of the season.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended for a week amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. The decision was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the governing body and organiser of the competition which is the world’s biggest domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament.
